Lots of excitement coming up

Sing! is very fortunate to be one of the bands that will be playing at the Duluth Homegrown Music Festival this year. This festival is a great showcase of Duluth-based music. This year over 300 bands applied, with just under 200 eventually lined up for the festival. What a big job for the organizers. Hats off to them.

Even more exciting, our show will be on the Saturday night of the festival, at Sacred Heart Music Center. The show that night opens with the North Wind Flute Choir, I’m really looking forward to hearing what they have to offer. Then we will be opening for one of Duluth’s premier bands – Low. Oh, and, we’ll be singing on a few of Low’s songs during their set. We really enjoyed playing at the Low tribute concert in December, and it’s going to be great to sing some more of their music. Big thanks to Alan for this amazing invitation.

Here are the details for our 2014 Homegrown show: Saturday, May 3, 7:15pm, Sacred Heart Music Center. Low’s set starts at 8:15pm, same venue.

Meanwhile, we’ll be warming up our performance at Lakeshore senior housing here in Duluth. That show is on April 2. We’ve sung at Lakeshore before and they were a great audience. This should be a fun time for all.

About Sing! A Women's Chorus

Founded in 1999 by director Mags David, Sing! A Women’s Chorus is based in the Duluth Public Schools Community Education program. This ensemble is open to all registrants. Music is learned through the oral tradition, allowing singers at all levels of experience to participate. We sing traditional music from the U.S., Europe, and West Africa, and original songs written for the chorus by Mags David.
