A little break

Our school won’t be available for rehearsals for the next two weeks – February 12 and February 19 – so we’ll be taking a little break until then. The term has started out with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, helped along by a number of new singers. I’m enjoying every minute of it. If you’re attending winter session and haven’t registered yet, please do. Register here.

We submitted our application to the Homegrown Music Festival and expect to hear the results by the end of the month. Homegrown received more than 300 applications this year!! It’s fabulous to see this event grow and thrive, it’s a wonderful aspect of life in Duluth, and it’s a privilege to be a part of this community of musicians.

The inspiring Pete Seeger died this month, his voice will be much missed in this world. Here are the women of the chorus singing “How Can I Keep from Singing” one of the many songs Pete Seeger popularized.

About Sing! A Women's Chorus

Founded in 1999 by director Mags David, Sing! A Women’s Chorus is based in the Duluth Public Schools Community Education program. This ensemble is open to all registrants. Music is learned through the oral tradition, allowing singers at all levels of experience to participate. We sing traditional music from the U.S., Europe, and West Africa, and original songs written for the chorus by Mags David.
