Back to work

After a week off, we’re back to work this Wednesday. Now our introductory singing is complete and we’ll really begin working on repertoire. This fall we will not be doing too much performing. It feels good to be able to just concentrate on getting the music together.

This is my fifteenth year of Sing! and things are pretty different than they were fifteen years ago. I mentioned in class that we would likely only be doing about four performances this year and one singer said “Only four? I remember when we just did one at the end of the year.” It is amazing to see how many women have embraced this group and the spirit of singing together.

Here’s a blast from the past. Yeah, the group is much smaller and I’m much younger.

From Sing!’s first year.

About Sing! A Women's Chorus

Founded in 1999 by director Mags David, Sing! A Women’s Chorus is based in the Duluth Public Schools Community Education program. This ensemble is open to all registrants. Music is learned through the oral tradition, allowing singers at all levels of experience to participate. We sing traditional music from the U.S., Europe, and West Africa, and original songs written for the chorus by Mags David.
